Having established a busy real estate practice under Sotheby’s exceptional brand in 2014, Glynis decided it was time to grow her business. After considering various alternatives, it was an offer from her daughter Kirsten which brought about this dynamic team. For Kirsten, changing from a legal environment to real estate had many similarities but the challenge of interacting with a diverse range of clients and marketing a variety of properties, was appealing.

The team is assisted by Glynis’ Los Angeles based daughter, a digital marketing expert, who overseas this aspect of the business. Together with advertising input from Sotheby’s marketing department in Vancouver, they offer an all encompassing marketing service to their clients.

This very relatable, vibrant mother and daughter team have a passion for excellence and work in close tandem to best serve their clients. Buyers will find them patient and knowledgeable and prepared to persist until the right property is found. They are fortunate to represent some of Victoria’s treasured landmarks.

Glynis is a multiple Gold MLS Award recipient. In 2016 she achieved the highest priced sale in the Greater Victoria area and the highest price sale for an acreage home on the Peninsula. Together with the extensive support of the unique Sotheby’s brand, she uses her skills in marketing and home renovation and her passion for real estate to provide both buyers and sellers the experience, professionalism and integrity required to market or acquire a home regardless of size or location.

Glynis brings a unique international perspective to the Victoria real estate market. Having owned and renovated homes in Canada, Scotland and her home country of South Africa. In 2003 Glynis and her husband chose to move to Victoria with their two daughters.

Glynis has garnered in-depth local real estate knowledge working in a busy real estate team. As a Victoria homeowner she has moved from an oceanfront home in Gordon Head, to the leafy suburb of Broadmead, then to an acreage property in the Mt. Newton Valley and finally to the Seaside town of Brentwood Bay.

Born in Toronto, Kirsten moved at a young age from the “big city” to a remote Scottish Highland Glen where her formative years were spent exploring this rural setting with her friends and neighbours. From this early age, relationships were important due to the remoteness of the location and the small school she attended.

After 2 years in South Africa, her family arrived in Victoria where she had the privileged experience of graduating from St. Michael’s University School.

She attended McGill University for two years where she studied English literature and economics and then returned to the West Coast where she transitioned from her part-time summer job to working full-time as a legal assistant for a successful local law firm.

Following that, two years as an assistant to Glynis made her realize that she had a keen interest in real estate. With an avid eye for statistical data, analyzing the market and communicating with friends and clients, this had become a passion.

Newly minted as a realtor she is now a vital member of the team working in close tandem with Glynis.

“I was raised on the principle that you should always work harder than those around you. Go the extra mile and do it with passion, integrity, positivity and empathy for others. Don’t be pigeon-holed by your job description. Anyone can do a good job and meet expectations, but people will remember you for the times you go above and beyond.”

Very rarely do I write testimonials but I felt with the great service I got from Glynis in selling my home I thought I would take the time. Glynis was a superb Realtor. She worked for me not for her commission. All decisions were discussed and and she listened to my concerns. She spent lots of time and effort to advertise my home and to make sure that her fellow Realtors in the area knew how nice my place was.

Every Sunday we had an open house to make sure it was being marketed in the best way we could. The home was priced correctly and was not overpriced. Some Realtors list a home with to high of a price and the result is several price drops are needed to sell the home but not in this case.

When a buyer was found she acted in a professional manner and we discussed the offer together taking in all my concerns. I didn’t hesitant to say yes to the great offer. I would highly recommend Glynis as your Realtor if you are looking for one in the near future. Thanks again Glynis for your great service and the way you handled the sale of my home.

From my first meeting with Glynis MacLeod I have been singing her praises and the praises of Sotheby’s. At our first meeting, Glynis took time to really see my home and to listen to what I had to say about this most important undertaking, the selling of my home. She helped gather a superb team of people to help me prepare the house for sale, from deep cleaners to a superb stager to liaising with a bank mortgage specialist. She held several open houses and facilitated people coming through the house, always respectful of my time and needs and giving sufficient notice. She was always willing to go the extra mile. Her many positive actions, phone calls and thoughtful discussions showed her care and caring about my needs under difficult circumstances, and doing a stellar job. She has also helped me find a new home for myself, even when I have been out of town, going to view properties she thought I would like. It is a fortunate day for anyone lucky enough to have Glynis MacLeod take them on as a client to sell their home.

We had a fantastic experience with Glynis - she is calm, honest and efficient, knows her stuff and is always pleasant to deal with. More than that she got the job done! The best realtor we have ever dealt with.

Glynis went above and beyond in marketing our home, and also brought to bear all the web and international tools that Sotheby’s has developed, to find us an international buyer. She handled negotiations with expertise and grace. We couldn’t be happier.

Outstanding – that is how we describe Glynis MacLeod. We noticed right away that she really listened to what we had to say and enthusiastically showed us any house we wanted to see. She also found other places that she knew would fit our needs, and opened our minds to possibilities that would not have occurred to us. With Glynis, we felt like we were partners on a project, and that she truly had our best interests in mind.

Glynis is organized, efficient and energetic, and has an eye for detail and for potential. Her work ethic, thoughtfulness, enthusiasm and big heart are just a few of the reasons we feel she is the best realtor we have ever worked with. With Glynis there was never any pressure – just a comfortable feeling that we were in the best hands possible, and that she would stick with us until we found the perfect place. And she did. We couldn’t be happier with our house, and we can’t recommend her enough!

Please accept this letter as an unsolicited testimony as to the professionalism, marketing strategies, tenacity and client relationships demonstrated by realtor Glynis Macleod of Sotheby’s International in Victoria, BC.

It was a pleasure dealing with Glynis as she built a completely trusting relationship with us during the sale of our home. Her on site marketing kit presentation as well as her choice of alternate markets she marketed our home was more than we expected, including Sotheby’s glossy executive home magazine. Every step of the way was professional including any research needed that we could not supply. Her tenacity with house showings and open houses were, I’m sure, at times exhausting.

A heartfelt thanks: We began our home search on the island two years ago. When we started we thought we had a clear and concise list of our needs and wants and tried to relay that to the real estate agents that we had engaged with. After many disappointing viewings we were frustrated and unsure if we were ever going to find a home that had all of the criteria that we had expressed to other realtors were necessary. We decided to find a new agent and walked into Sotheby’s on Douglas in Victoria. We asked for a realtor and were introduced to Glynis Macleod. What a difference the right agent makes!

Glynis from the onset seemed invested in our success. She asked us questions that other realtors had not and within a few hours had compiled a list of homes and had booked viewings.

Her expertise and experience were priceless. She pointed out deficiencies that we had never even considered in properties and never tried to divert us from our wish list. Appointments were never rushed and her attention to detail was exceptional. It really makes a difference when a realtor is in your corner. She had professional available to us for mortgages and legal advice which was invaluable since we were moving from a different part of the province.

It took some time but we have now found a home. A home that met and exceeded everything on our list. We wanted to express our gratitude for the patient and proficient service Glynis extended to us.

Glynis is no longer the agent that helped us find a home, she is also someone that we consider a friend.

This custom-built home is great for entertaining and extremely well located for those who want to enjoy West coast living

In a neighbourhood of like-minded, historic designs, minutes from downtown

It was Victoria's highest priced sale in the last year. While there was a lot of local interest, there was only one offer. The Albertan buyers are a middle-aged couple with teenage children.
